“He Has Risen”—Our Victory Song
By Rev. Lonnie C.

Three days after Passover, is the Feast of First Fruits. Jesus died on Passover and rose again on the Feast of First Fruits. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:20-23. "But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming."
Matthew 28: 1-6: “Now after the Sabbath, as the first day
of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the
tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord
descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and
sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as
snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the
angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that
you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is
not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord
lay.”
“He Has Risen” is, indeed, our song of victory.
Our need for victory began in the beginning. Adam, in a desire for greatness, ate the
fruit, sealed a covenant with the enemy, and opened the door to sin, disease,
despair and death. In the Old Testament
economy, when two parties entered into a covenant, they exchanged
possessions. Adam ceded his dominion of
the earth in that covenant and received all that the enemy had. Nothing of which was good.
God, in His mercy, sacrificed an animal, clothed the man
and the woman, and began the journey to closing the door on Adam’s poor choice and
opening another into newness of life and victory for believers. Because Jesus suffered and died, was buried
and rose again, the price of atonement has been fully paid.
Because the Holy Spirit indwells us and empowers us, our covenant
in Jesus is greater than the original covenant God made with Adam. Because of God’s new covenant with us, we
have victory over the world and even over death itself. 1 John 5: 10-11: “He who believes in the Son
of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a
liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.
And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is
in His Son.”
Every prophetic word, every promise, every believer from that moment on has been a step forward in the journey from the Garden of
Eden, through the Garden of Gethsemane, to the tree of Calvary and onto the
Tree of Life in the New Jerusalem.
When we accept His atonement, nothing in all of creation
can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus (Romans 28: 38-39).
Jesus’ resurrection is the most significant event in
history. His resurrection signifies Father God’s acceptance of His Son’s
sacrifice. He is the first fruits of
those raised from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:20). Because He lives, we, too, shall live (John
14:19).
Jesus, Beautiful Redeemer,
You who bore the agony of Calvary,
Pierced by the thorns,
Scourged,
Wounded,
Forsaken,
Reviled.
Your passion paid sin’s price.
Your death opened the veil.
Your tomb is the key to freedom
From death and the grave.
Your resurrection sealed our covenant
with the Father.
Your return will be the culmination of creation,
The restoration of Eden,
The doorway to eternity.
You are the way, the truth and the life.
Hallelujah! He has risen! He is the first fruits.
