 The Power of Virtue

By Rev. Lonnie C. Crowe

Proverbs 31 describes the virtuous woman.  However, Psalm 31 is also a description in metaphor of what the Bride of Christ should be as we walk this planet.

For now, we are going to meditate on one word in Proverbs 31:10 “Who can find a woman of virtue? For her value is far above rubies.”

Let’s look closely at the word “virtue”.  The word translated as virtue is the Hebrew word khahyil.  It means a force, an army, wealth, virtue, courage, strength: activity, substance, worth.  When we are living virtuously, we become a courageous, force of strength, activity and worthWe become warriors, impowered by the Holy Spirit, to march in the army of God.

True virtue can be found only in a relationship with Jesus Christ.   In that relationship, we can walked virtuouslyWe can walk according to Philippians 4:6-8:Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think on these things.

When the church, the Bride of Christ, walks in virtue, we become a force for goodness that we bring us to victory over the darkness of this present age.

If you have not already experienced the virtue, joy and peace of a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, today is the day that you can begin your walk with Him. To make Jesus our Lord, we must acknowledge that He is GodHe is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and He desires the best for each of us.

John 10:10: The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

To accept Jesus as our Savior, we must accept the fact that we have sinned, that we have settled for less than God has for us.  We must recognize that Jesus died on the Cross to save us from the penalty for sin. Hallelujah! What a Savior!
